The turnout was great today for the Bread of Life’s 25th Annual “Walk for Bread” held here at Pine Banks Park! With the sun shining it was a beautiful day for a walk around Pine Banks Park. Everyone that came to support the Bread of Life was treated to a variety of fun activities such a face painting station, a henna station, music, and free “swag” from some of the Bread of Life sponsors! What was really fantastic was
how the walkers and runners ranged from all ages. There were people at Pine Banks today who’d been in all twenty
five Walk for Bread events as well as people who’d decided to join the walk for the first time. As well as the walk, some determined supporters of the charity competed in the 5K run. It was easy to feel the excited energy of everyone and
after a short prayer from a pastor involved with the charity the hoard of eager walkers and runners set off! At each stop along the way the participants were encouraged by volunteers from the Bread of Life pointing the crowd in the right direction and pumping them up to keep on going! Once the three mile walk was over
and the walkers returned back to Pine Banks they were met with pizza and treats to reward them for all their hard work and support. We at Pine Banks Park are proud to host this event every year and consider this event one of our favorites. All of us highly recommend attending the walk, even just as a way to talk to some of the wonderful people that come out and support the charity each year! It’s an amazing event that you don’t want to miss out on so be sure to be on the lookout for the Walk for Bread next year!
